You always forget one…

Whatever situation you’re in as a facilitator, whether it be a workshop, a meeting you’ve been asked to facilitate, a change process, whatever you are responsible for the whole thing…

So what’s the whole thing? Well, basically put it’s:

1. The task (what’s the objective of the session? what’s the scope? is everyone agreed?)

2. The procedure (who’s going to do what? how? when?)

3. The climate (what’s the history? is the atmosphere conducive? is there an agenda within the agenda? are people contributing? is it moving?)

From experience it’s easy to focus on 2 of these at any one time (and it’s rare than task gets overlooked!!) but whatever facilitation you are doing TRY, TRY and TRY again to remember all 3
